Looks like the weather is shaping up for a great weekend of riding and the start of the 10th Tour of California on Sunday in Sacramento. The race comes to our neck of the woods Tuesday, May 12. With a backside climb of Mt Hamilton this year, it'll be a perfect day to skip work and get some climbing miles in while watching some of the best in the world climb and descend some of our most popular road routes. (Stage 3)
Last weekend had some great weather both days but a bit windy Sunday unless you did off-road. The shot above is the "Come to Jesus" loop in Emerald Hills. Most of you roadies know this one well. It was a perfect day for a road ride Saturday and the views from the top of the hill were spectacular in all directions. Turned out to be an interesting route going through Huddart Park when we realized we were within walking distance to Kings Highway, which we had planned to go up anyway. Ended up doing a short hike-a-bike within the park and ended up on Kings Hwy a little further up the road than the park entrance. (Strava)
I'm sure many of you have heard about the massive Trek Skewer Recall. You only need details if you have a Trek bike with a disc brake front-end and standard skewer axle made after 2000. If you don't have time to research it, just let me know the model/year of your disc-equipped Trek and I'll get you the info.
I can now accept credit card payments on my silly phone using Intuit Payment Services. It's much better for me than PayPal and hopefully a convenient option for you. Of course, as always, PayPal, check, or cash are always welcome, too. The bad news is that invoice payments via Intuit no longer works until I upgrade my version of their software. For now, cash, check, or PayPal still works.
The shot to the left is on the crest of Saratoga Heights Drive (Toll Gate Rd) looking towards the Mountain Winery. Most of you know this one, a good and steep climb and descent. Part of many afterwork rides in the area. (Strava)
Had some family/friends commitments Sunday but managed to ride my Chbobber down to Vasona Park for a baby shower. Yea, they invite guys these days. :) Boy, it sure was windy there. Glad I wasn't on my road bike on a long one. As long as you're on the flats or going down hill, the Chbobber is fun to ride. When the slope gets much more than 3%, time to get off and push. A little humiliation is good now and then. (Strava)
The Parts Express store is still kinda clunky but please give it a look and let me know what you think. Parts Express Some of you already have accounts on the site so just log in or request a password reset if you don't recall. Your user name is the email address you used to create the account. Doing so will also allow you to update your service profile, contact information, and see your discounted prices.

Wahoo KICKR's seem to be back in stock so lead-time is back to normal, about 7 days. I can't justify spending that much money on a trainer, but they are pretty awesome for those who have real jobs and can't get out to ride. You can go buy one locally or online but buying from me gets you a better price and much better support, of course. MyTeamCar.net is also an authorized Wahoo Fitness dealer. I can usually get just about anything. If you need things quickly, just mention the specifics. I can get most things in my hands overnight, next-day, or two-day, it just costs more for shipping. And, yes, you will receive tracking info as soon as I receive it. Okay, shut-up and ride!
