Tommasini Premiere Lite

Well, more of a rebuild and upgrade...
Category: Latest Bike Build

This rig has a lot of history and my customer wanted to upgrade it to more current drive train components and shifter/brake technology.

However, once into the work I discovered a fracture at the base of the steer tube. It was carbon/alloy construction so nobody would touch a repair. The original fork was actually 1-inch so the replacement forks from both Tommasini and aftermarket suppliers were not so cool.

As it turned out, I was able to use a more modern 1-1/8 fork from Tommasini's newer offerings due to the bearings chosen when the bike was originally designed. Just a different headset and the newer fork installed and worked flawlessly. Looks great, too!

So from 9-speed to 10-speed Shimano 7900 with Cane Creek SL brake calipers and a new crank, the rig is even sweeter riding than before. Geometry nearly exactly the same and a much stiffer steerer makes it a fantastic upgrade and an even better ride.
