The Solvang Century 2012
Saturday, March 10, 2012 is the date for this epic classic. We really don't have specific competitive stuff for this one. It's usually a wide-open hammerfest from sag-stop to sag-stop and the winner is usually whoever gets over the Foxen Canyon climb first.
At this point, the hotel will be in Santa Maria again. If you think the Winter Solstice Century is a fun one, this one is actually more fun when you include all the off-the-bike stuff.
Sign-up below so we can get a roster together and keep the email traffic to a minimum. Significant-others are very welcome. In 2010 we had about six wives who did the metric (50-miles) and had a blast. I'm considering that route this year. :)

Ride Details:
The way we typically do this ride is to drive down to Solvang Friday and return Sunday. Friday night we do a massive pasta feast (usually at the Olive Garden in Santa Maria). Saturday we do the awesome ride. Saturday evening we go out to a massive feast at the Far Western Tavern--quite possibly the best steak house on the west coast. On Sunday, many go straight home in the early AM. The more serious veterans drive south past Solvang and over to Los Olivos to chill-out and do an early sandwich lunch. They then drive back north over part of the Solvang route (Foxen Canyon) and stop at a few wineries along the way for lunch and a little tasting. The ride is the typical century with lots of rolling terrain and about 5K of total climbing. It can be cool and foggy in the morning but typicallly turns out to be a very nice riding day. Wives are very welcome to do this one and can just do the metric (50-mile) route and return to the beautiful town of Solvang and wait for the century hammerheads to come in. It is a drop ride but generally we regroup at every rest stop.

Competition Format & Route Info
This ride is typically a hammerfest but I'm open making the comp format similar or tha same as the Winter Solstice, which seems to be a favored setup. Competition format will be announced as soon as we sort it out.
Support
Well, it should be as good as it always is. I hate that drink mix they've been pushing the last few times but if you bring your own you can avoid that crap. Food and water is plentiful and overall sag support excellent.
Participant List
Sorry for the mess here. Only the first three columns are important. Yea, yea, I'll try to clean up the data later...
